Using the same patch as 007, but this time controlled with the WII. MAD FUN! TOTALZ MAD FUNZ ![]()
reaktor glitches, and i’m obviously not very used to using the patch.

Just some test doing some clever drum programming, with a typical bassline. Bit too much idling today lol ![]()

I am going to attend the laptop battle in Mannheim this weekend, and I’ve just done the MIDI mappings for a reaktor ensemble I am going to be using. Connecting the Faderfox to this ensemble was something I had planned for a long time, and now it’s finally there, it is even more fun that I thought it’d be. The patch is basically the massive groovebox, with a few tweaks using parts out of Limelite (pattern remixer, scratchable XY effects) as well as some reset buttons for global tweaks, and an added external filter.
EDIT: Well in fact I’m not going to participate this weekend, but I’ll be at laptopbattle Stuttgart with em411 homies nq and tylth.
This is my first jam with it, not very controlled but I’ll definitely practice that tomorrow and build a rreal song instead of a massivesque groove.

No real time today either, most of the time at school, evening spent coding nord and reaktor patches and practicing bass. TOok some time to finally start working on the smaplez zfigz sent me of his monomachine, and came up with this hiphopesque groove. Cheesy synth sounds, the bass is out of tune, but I’m quite happy because I played the keyboards in live and they seem to groove pretty well.
The tune has no structure though, it’s really just a groove.

So I spent most of the day debugging and reinstalling stuff on my macbook, which has a weird random application crash bug since I got. Everything got changed except the display, and the bug is still there and driving me crazy. Random apps would crash (everything, finder, mail, irc client, etc…), but most importantly, all my music apps would crash, which really helps the flow. Anyway, I didn’t really have time to make a track, so I ended up just doing some small machinedrum ditty, and jamming it into audacity without really rehearsing the track or so. Tried to pan stuff a bit left and right, I’ll have to work on that. Made some nice noises with the NOISE and IMPULSE machine. The rest is just my standard boring machinedrum funk.
EDIT: Hah, I noticed that I didn’t use half of the song, so that boring chord blingbling at the beginning is actually supposed to continue. The melody continues as well… Whatever….

A song I’m pretty pleased with, needs some minor flow corrections (suck at intros), but I’m pretty happy the bass and how the 10+ synths fit together.

So I’m trying to do this zak mc kracken/indiana jones remix for a friend, and well… I really think one day is not enough for a song, there will be plenty more of rubbish tries up here
What I discovered in this one: noisia kind of basses are kind of fun to do, as well as automatising the synth pitch (of the bass in this case). I will have to do this with clean samples for the break and the drums, and try to get a good groove before going into breakland. Still, learnt some stuff about breaks in this one.

So I’ve been trying to “arrange” Darn That Dream by Van Heusen for “synths”, trying at first to be able to play the chords on the piano. I wanted an atmosphere kind of similar to those my friends utofbu, cc and monkvolcano make. Well, to be honest this is complete rubbish, I discovered a few things though and I think I will work on this tune again tomorrow and upload that as a future song-a-day as well.

I’m gonna try this experiment of doing one song per day, not limiting myself to any genre or whatever. This will be the occasion to polish my skills, try different ideas, etc… The first one, some stupid melodic dubstep, trying out different wobble sounds. I guess it needs work on the drums, on loads of background weird noises washed out in reverb, and the melody sucks
Also, one song a day means I will often not spend more than 1 hour on a song, so obviously (like this one) they will be quite lacking in the “storytelling” dimension. Though I’ll try to work on that as well.

I tried to make the bass as fat as I could, my ears are a bit tired now, I’ll check tomorrow if it worked
